About This Tour
Race Ready in Northern Thailand | Masters Tour of Chiang Mai X
Coming from overseas to race the Masters Tour of Chiang Mai? This comprehensive 10-day package is designed specifically for ambitious amateur cyclists who want to arrive, acclimatize properly, and compete at their best. We’ve built the perfect lead-up with four strategic pre-race rides that help you adapt to the climate, shake off the jet lag, and get a tactical edge with two full stage reconnaissance rides. Then it’s four days of proper racing across varied terrain, from sprinter stages to the iconic Doi Suthep time trial. Whether you’re chasing GC glory or just want to experience one of Southeast Asia’s premier amateur stage races, we’ve got every detail sorted – from airport transfers to post-race celebrations.
What Makes This Package Essential
Climate & Time Zone Adaptation: Arriving just in time for race day is a recipe for suffering. Our four pre-race rides ease you into Thailand’s heat and humidity while your body adjusts to the time difference. By race day, you’ll be firing on all cylinders while others are still battling jet lag.
Tactical Advantage: Two full stage reconnaissance rides give you insider knowledge of the circuit race course and Stage 1 route. You’ll know every corner, climb, and technical section before the flag drops – a massive competitive edge.
Full-Service Race Support: We handle everything beyond the racing itself – bike fitting, daily route support, transfers to/from race starts, post-stage transportation, and logistics. You focus on performing; we handle the rest.
Recovery & Celebration: An optional post-race spin lets you decompress after four days of hard racing, while our comfortable accommodation and included meals ensure you’re properly fueled and rested throughout.
Community Experience: The rolling start on Day 1 and shared transfers create natural opportunities to connect with fellow racers from around the world. Many riders return year after year, making this as much about the community as the competition.
This isn’t just a race entry – it’s your complete Masters Tour of Chiang Mai experience, designed by cyclists who understand what it takes to travel halfway around the world and perform at your best.

What Makes This Package Special
What’s Covered
What’s Not Covered
Day 1 (Oct 12) – Huay Sieo Village Circuit
47 km, 440m of climbing
Welcome to Northern Thailand! After we get you sorted with bike fitting and proper introductions over coffee, we’ll roll out for the Huay Sieo Village Circuit – the perfect opener to shake off the travel fatigue and get your legs spinning again. This ride takes you through the hidden corners of Chiang Mai Valley that most tourists never see, winding through local villages and quiet backroads. It’s enough to wake up the legs without leaving you cooked for the days ahead. Think of it as your gentle introduction to Thailand cycling mode – because trust us, the climate here hits differently than back home.
Day 2 (Oct 13) – Samoeng Loop (Stage 3 Recce)
85 km, 1,500m of climbing
Now we’re talking! Time to tick off one of Northern Thailand’s truly legendary rides. The Samoeng Loop is a rite of passage for cyclists in these parts, delivering rolling ascents that build steadily to spectacular viewpoints where you’ll want to stop for photos (and catch your breath, let’s be honest). We’ll hit a couple of proper coffee stops along the way – and somehow that Thai iced coffee tastes even better after you’ve earned it on two wheels. This is where you’ll start to understand what makes cycling here so addictive. The climbing isn’t brutal, but it’s persistent enough to get you race-ready while still leaving something in the tank.
Day 3 (Oct 14) – MTCM Stage 1 Recce Ride
110 km, 730m of climbing
Let’s go check out tomorrow’s race course, shall we? We’ll ride the full Stage 1 route at a civilized recon pace, giving you the perfect opportunity to scope out the key sections and plan your race strategy. The route heads north through Chiang Mai’s agricultural heartland before turning east toward the stunning San Kamphaeng Hot Springs area. You’ll get a feel for the rolling terrain, pinpoint where the decisive moves might happen, and mentally bookmark those few punchy climbs that could split things up. Consider this your tactical advantage – while others are flying blind tomorrow, you’ll know exactly what’s coming. We’ll chat through the course features as we roll, pointing out the technical bits and where the pace typically ramps up.
Day 4 (Oct 15) – MTCM Stage 2 Recce Ride
85 km, 340m of climbing
Pre-race reconnaissance part two! Today we’re heading out to scout the circuit race course at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (CMRU). We’ll roll from the hotel along peaceful Canal Road, then cruise north alongside the Ping River before arriving at the campus. Once there, we’ll ride a full lap of the 6km circuit so you can get familiar with every corner, climb, and technical section. This is your chance to dial in race tactics – where to position yourself, which corners are sketchy, where the moves will happen. After dissecting the circuit, we’ll take a quieter route back and stop at a brilliant little café with stunning views about 20km from home. Easy pace, sharp focus – tomorrow you rest, then it’s go time.
Day 5 (Oct 16) – MTCM Stage 1 – Sprinter Stage
Race: 63 km, 700m of climbing, Rolling Start: +20 km
Race day! Stage 1 is what we call a “sprinter’s stage” – though don’t let that fool you, there’s still 700 meters of climbing packed into those 63 kilometers. The route heads through the valley with rolling terrain that’ll keep everyone honest, but the smart money says this one ends in a bunch sprint if the race stays together. The technical sections through villages and a few punchy rises could see attacks, but the fast finishers will be eyeing that final stretch. After you cross the line, we’ve got a support van ready for the 20 km transfer back to the hotel – because who wants to soft-pedal back after leaving it all out there? Time to put yesterday’s recon to work.
Day 6 (Oct 17) – MTCM Stage 2 – Circuit Race @ University Campus
Race Distance 24, 36 or 48 km, age group dependent | 110 m of climbing per lap
Circuit racing time! Today we’re heading to Maejo University campus for some proper motor-paced action. Depending on your age category, you’ll be doing 2, 3, or 4 laps of this technical 12km circuit. Each lap packs in 110 meters of climbing with a few punchy sections that’ll have everyone gasping, plus some fast, sweeping corners where positioning is everything. This is where bike handling and tactics trump pure power – stay alert, stay near the front, and don’t get boxed in. We’ll provide transport to the university in the morning (about 30 km north) and pick you up afterward for the transfer back to base. Recover smart tonight – the Queen stage is waiting.
Day 7 (Oct 18) – MTCM Stage 3 – Conquer the Mountain
74.3 | 94 km – 690 | 1.390 m vertical (age group dependent)
This is it – the Queen stage. Today separates those who came to race from those who came to survive. Depending on your age group, you’re either tackling the “shorter” 74km route with a respectable 690 meters of climbing, or the full monster: 94km with 1,390 meters of vertical. Both routes wind through breathtaking mountain scenery as you head toward the legendary Tha Chang Hill Café. The climbs are real, the heat is real, and by the finish, you’ll have earned every bit of respect that comes with ticking off this stage. Don’t worry about the ride back – we’ve got support vehicles ready at Tha Chang Hill Café to transfer you back to the hotel. Save your legs; you’ve still got the time trial tomorrow.
Day 8 (Oct 19) – MTCM Stage 4 – The Classic Time Trial up to Doi Suthep
(10.8 km, 630m of climbing)
Final race day, and it’s the iconic one: the individual time trial up Doi Suthep. Just you, your bike, and 10.8 kilometers of sustained climbing to one of Chiang Mai’s most sacred temples. This is where you empty whatever’s left in the tank – no drafting, no teammates, no excuses. The gradient averages around 6% but kicks harder in sections, and the heat adds another dimension entirely. Every pedal stroke counts toward your final GC position. After the last rider crosses the line, we’ll gather for the official trophy ceremony and post-race celebration. Time to see where you landed after four days of proper racing, and celebrate with everyone who survived the Masters Tour of Chiang Mai.
Day 9 (Oct 20) – “Full of Happiness” Recovery Ride (Optional)
(85 km, 40m of climbing)
Still got anything left after four days of racing and last night’s celebrations? We’re offering an optional post-race recovery spin for anyone not completely wrecked. This one’s flat and cruisy – about as easy as it gets around here. We’ll head south to Lamphun along peaceful backroads that follow canals and rice paddies, then return alongside the mighty Ping River. The highlight? A stop at “Full of Happiness” café (yes, that’s genuinely its name). Their coffee specialties, smoothies, and snacks hit differently when you’re celebrating a week of proper racing. No pressure, no pace, just easy spinning and one last ride before you head home. Think of it as the perfect way to reflect on what you just accomplished while your legs spin out the fatigue.
Day 10 (Oct 21) – Departure Day
After one final solid sleep and a last proper breakfast at Kantary Hills Hotel (where the chef will whip up your eggs exactly how you like them right in front of you), it’s time to head home – or wherever your next adventure takes you. Airport transfers are included, so we’ll get you there with plenty of time to spare. Not ready to leave Thailand just yet? We totally get it. We’re happy to extend your stay at Kantary Hills at our special team rate – just let us know and we’ll sort it out. Safe travels, and we’ll see you at the next one!
